Statement of Significance

A large and unusually designed home drawing on a variety of influences and has some importance for its
off beat overall design.

Physical Description

An unusual 1930s two storey house with a rectangular plan from which a semi circular two storey bay is
attached. This house is probably intenwar and seems to draw on Californian interpretations of a
combined "Moderne" and Mediterranean styling. The walls are rendered and painted brickwork and the
roof is hipped with Mediterranean tiles. The design features glass blocks and timber joinery. The joinery
to the curved wall does not respond to it and appears as facets in the curve. The first floor balcony is in
a poor state of repair as is the cantilevered canopy over ground floor openings. A boundary wall is
currently semi complete.

History

The land was owned originally by Lord Forrest [all subsection 26].
Modifications to the house 1988,1994-5.
