The church group is significant as one of the longest operating Sisters of Mercy establishments in the State.
St Brigid's Catholic Church Group, Midland comprises a simple Federation Free Style Church (fmr) (1902), a landmark two storey Federation Free style Convent (fmr) (1906), a Federation Free Style School (fmr) (1919), and a double volume Late Twentieth Century Ecclesiastical Style Church (1967).
The Church group was established in 1902 by the Sisters of Mercy and the Catholic Church. The Sisters came to Western Australia in 1846 and quickly established a branch convent in Guildford in 1855. The Guildford branch moved to Midland in 1902 when the population of Midland had outgrown Guildford. The Sisters also provided education from the church group.
