Social Value: The building has social significance as it is regarded by the local community
as an essential service and provides local identity to the area.
The building is a symmetrically designed 1950's brick building, reflecting low keyed traditional
domestic scale and form with a large corrugated metal lip roof including a 1989 addition to the rear
side. The building is set adjacent to the RSL War Memorial/Palmer Park near a group of mature trees.
The Shire Offices, Park and Dardanup Hall form a pleasant precinct with the majority of the structures
built in the 1950's.
The Shire Offices were built in 1950 with extensions and alterations in
1989. The building replaced the former offices that were located in the
residence of Mr C. Terry Hayward, who was secretary of the Road Board.
Mr Hayward was a local school teacher in the Dardanup State School in
1911.
