The place is representative of the growth of the Darlington area from the late nineteenth and early twentieth century and of the use of locally sourced granite and dolerite for use in road infrastructure between 1901 and c.1945.
Bridge 4524 is a small timber bridge with rock wing walls over Nyaania Creek in Darlington. The surface of the bridge has bitumen seal and it has guard rails on both sides. The bridge spans 5.70m and is currently 6.02m wide. The round timber beams sit directly on the rock wing wall.
There is limited information on the history of Bridge 4524, Glen Road over Nyaania Creek, Darlington. Given the use of locally quarried stone and timber beams, it is likely that it was constructed prior to the closure of P16788 Government Quarries (fmr) (RHP). However, it is also possible that dolerite and granite from this quarry were still being used after its closure.
Since 1953, aerial imagery suggests that Bridge 4524, Glen Road over Nyaania Creek, Darlington remains largely unchanged since constructed.
