Statement of Significance

These offices are the third location of the Wickepin Roads Board/Shire since its inception in 1909. The first purpose built structure was in Richter Street (Ref No. 24), and the offices were relocated to the Town Hall in 1939 when offices were added to the existing Hall (see Ref No. 3). The decision to build these offices in 1980 was somewhat controversial in the community as it was not considered necessary. The President of the Shire, was Norm King when the Minister for Local Government opened the place on 28 November 1980. The local press reported the new Shire offices as " in keeping with the prosperity of the district."

Physical Description

Brick and tile construction. The place comprises the Shire administration offices, the Council Boardroom and the Shire Library.
