Statement of Significance

A minor coherent group of closely related early Cottesloe dwellings.

Physical Description

A minor precinct of three brick and iron cottages c1918, now modified by paint and render. The plans
are the same. Each with a thrust room capturing a half verandah; with double-hung sash windows under
a half-timbered gable. Front doors are panelled and glazed with half-light sidelights.

History

The land was owned by William Allnutt Saw, surveyor of Fremantle in 1895.
In 1905 Wholley and Walsh contractors had stables and land here.
In 1918 part of lots 22&23 were amalgamated to put 3 houses on the lots. Later part of 24 [221 Curtin Avejwas
amalgamated with the 22-3 section to form lot 5.
