The Hotel is historically important as a representative country town hotel, located in the townsite in close proximity to the railway. Tha place is socially significant for it's association with the local community and the travelling public.

Physical Description

Two storey brick and corrugated iron roof hotel building, rendered to sreet elevation and parapet. Two storey verandah to street elevation, partly infilled on upper level and timber balustrade. Bricks made locally by SW Taylor. Outbuildings of timber and corrugated iron believed to be the former stables.

Statement of Significance

The place is aesthetically important for the architectural characteristics and the building and structures are historically important asa the farmhouse and buildings built by the first settlers in the district and founder of Tambellup. The place is scientifically significant for the potential to provide information relating to early buildings and farming methods in the district. The place is socially important for it's association with the past settlers and as a rare surviving farm complex contributing to hte communitys sense of place.

Physical Description

The place is a single storey rectangular residence. It is characteristic of homesteads built in this early period being single room in depth with rooms acccesd from the verandah in the front and rear and via interconnecting doors. The building is constructed from local field stone and solid walls laid with mud mortar and dressed quoins to door and window openings. The fieldstone has been rendered over.
