The place is aesthetically important for it's architectural characteristics and environmentally significant as a representative example of an amenity site in the main street of the town. The facility is an mportant public amenity valued by the community.
Physical Description
The Post Office is constructed of rendered brick and tile roof. Columns flank the front entry porch and a substantial rose garden is located at the rear of the property.
History
The first Post Office opened in 1925 in what is now a private residence. When this became too small, a new Post Office opened in 1935, which is the present Post Office.

Physical Description
Formerly th Women's Friendly Union Rest Rooms built by Messrs Proctor and Morris and opened in 1924. Added to for the Infant Health Clinic in 1956.
