White Gum Valley Primary School, Hope Street, a single storey limestone and tile school building surrounded by ancillery buildings, play grounds and grassed areas, has social value being representative of the improvement in educational opportunities for Fremantle's children. Aesthetically it is representative of typical school buildings designed by the PWD in this period.
Physical Description
Single storey stone, brick and brick quoining and tile hipped and gable roof and two brick chimneys primary school. The windows are mostly timber multi paned sash.

Aesthetically significant as an example of Fremantle’s vernacular architecture. Typical timber framed single storey cottage dating from the first decades of the twentieth century. Historically significant as a representation of working people’s living conditions in the Fremantle area.
Physical Description
Single storey timber framed and weatherboard clad walls and a corrugated iron gabled roof house. The roof has a brick chimney and extends over the verandah which is supported by timber posts.
History
Hope Street was named after Dr James W. Hope who was appointed as the surgeon for Fremantle Prison in 1886. In November 1897 he was the Acting Superintendent of the Lunatic Asylum. House, 16 Hope Street was constructed in 1900 by the government. Between 1912 and 1915 ownership was transferred to the occupant.

House, 2 Hope Street is a single storey brick and iron house constructed in the Federation Bungalow style of Architecture. The walls are painted brick. The roof is hipped and gabled and clad with corrugated iron. The gable has decorative timber battens in a fan shape, and a timber finial. The verandah is under a separate dropped corrugated iron roof. The asymmetrical front façade has a protruding front room under the gable roof with timber framed windows. Vegetation in the front yard prevents further description of the front elevation.
History
Hope Street was named after Dr James W. Hope who was appointed as the surgeon for Fremantle Prison in 1886. In November 1897 he was the Acting Superintendent of the Lunatic Asylum. Lot 1277 in 1901-02 was vacant land owned by the government. By 1908-09 there is a cottage occupied by Robert Kinross. Note: Council Blue Files have a photo of a house with many Kinross family members standing in front. The photo was dated 1897, however this seems to be incorrect, according to the rate books. A possibility is that this photo relates to a Robert Kinross who lived in Attfield St in 1897 according to Wise’s Post Office Directories.

House, 4 Hope Street, is a single storey, brick and tile house designed as an example of the Victorian Georgian style of architecture. The walls are painted rendered brick. The roof is hipped and clad with tiles. There is a brick chimney evident. The façade is symmetrical with a central front door with fanlight flanked on either side by timber framed windows. The verandah has a separate dropped tiled roof. The house is currently (2010) under renovations.

House, 57 Hope Street is a single storey, limestone and iron house designed as an example of the Victorian Georgian style of architecture. The walls are limestone with red brick quoins. The roof is hipped and clad with corrugated iron. A high masonry and timber picket fence at the front boundary prevents further description of the front elevation.
History
Hope Street was named after Dr James W. Hope who was appointed as the surgeon for Fremantle Prison in 1886. In November 1897 he was the Acting Superintendent of the Lunatic Asylum. The house was originally number 89. In 1900 Lot 17 of 84 was owned by the Church of England. A cottage on the lot was occupied by A. Johnson, a banker. Subsequent owners were Agnes White (1908) and Thomas Sapphias Powel (1931-1938). Numbering changed in 1938-39, at which time the owners were Olive & Harry Harmer. The house is Lot 43 of 84.

Physical Description
Single storey timber framed and weatherboard clad with an indented profile and a tile (probably not original) hipped roof with two brick chimneys with corbelling. The dropped veranda is supported by metal columns, probably not original.
History
A cottage is recorded on lot 1404 in 1905/6. The owner was H.M. Government. The occupant was John Purcell, a Master Mariner. (Fremantle Rate Book records).

Physical Description
Single storey timber framed and weatherboard clad walls with indented profile and a zincalume hipped and highly decorative timber gable house. The bull nosed veranda is supported by turned timber posts and has lattice balustrades (probably not original).
History
In 1900 this lot (26/7 of 78) was vacant land owned by the Church of England. By 1910 a cottage is recorded on this lot. (Fremantle Rate Book records).

House & Stables, 87 Hope Street, demolished c1981, is significant as a site because of its associations with the development of the horse racing industry in the area.

History
The original stables were built about 1949/50. In 1951/52 they were recorded as number 87. The 1956 to 1960 records note a residence and stables. In 1981 the stables were de-licensed. Association over the years with J.J. Starkie, J.A. Holmes, H.E. Denic, R.E. Miller, and Phil Coulson a leading trainer of trotters. Noted source: "Born winners, Born losers" by Jenny Tomlinson, Reeve Books 1990. Plans on file. Refer to parent place entry and "Hilton Residential Development Policy and Urban Design Guidelines" prepared by the City of Fremantle (adopted by Council 19/9/1994). This place was identified in the "Hilton Residential Development Policy and Urban Design Guidelines" prepared by the City of Fremantle, and adopted by Council on 19/9/1994.

Single storey single face painted stone and rendered ashlar effect quoining and a corrugated iron gable roofed house. The dropped veranda is supported by metal columns between brackets and has lattice balustrades and sides, probably not original.
History
In 1900 this lot (37 & pt 3681 was a vacant lot owned by the Church of England. By 1910 a cottage is recorded on lot 37 of 81. (Fremantle Rate Book records).

Physical Description
Single storey stone and brick quoining and a zincalume hipped roof with two chimneys with corbelling house. The façade features two bays extending upwards to two stone and brick gables. There is a lower level stone section to the rear of the house. The dropped veranda is supported by chamfered timber posts, has been semi enclosed with lattice and timber balustrades, probably not original.
History
A cottage is recorded on lot 36 of 81 in 1900. (Fremantle Rate Book records).
