The site represents the town of Kondut and associations with the settlers of the town and district.

History

In 1912, the construction of the railway northwards from Wongan Hills to Morawa began, and in 1915, the railway line was opened for transport, with the first wheat being carted from Kondut in the 1915/16 season. The post office was first established at Kondut in 1923, in a small corrugated iron shed. Martin and Coote took it over in 1925, and built a weatherboard shop and post office. n 1929, T Bowen from Lake Hinds established a butcher shop in Kondut. By 1930 ,Padbury Stores of Guildford took over the shop and started as general storekeepers in opposition to the store and post office. In 1936, the Padbury Stores closed down
