Physical Description

A standard fibrous cement, timber framed hall on an earthen bund retained by gravel rock. The hall is rectangular in plan with solid plain double door entry fronting Shanley Road and evently spaced aluminium framed windows either side of a single door entry fronting Wright Road. Both entries are protected by later additions of a metal verandah. The Fire Station has double roller door entry for 2 vehicles.

History

Built using funds raised by the local community, the Mardella Hall’s original use was for the temporary housing of George and Winifred Young’s Mardella General Store/Post Office which had been destroyed by fire. Once the Young’s had rebuilt the General Store, the Mardella Hall was donated back to the Community by the Young Family and is still used as a community hall today. The Fire Station construction followed that hall being handed back to the community.
