Statement of Significance

Success Harbour was developed in the late 1970s as the home of the Fremantle Sailing Club, which has been an institution in Fremantle for many years.

Physical Description

The southern edge of Fremantle has a complex of three harbours - Challenger, Fishing Boat and Success. Challenger Harbour is to the northern end and was built to house the teams taking part in the Americas Cup. The Fishing Boat Harbour in the centre of the harbour complex is the largest. It is the base for an over 400 strong fishing fleet and is lined with restaurants and boardwalks. Success Boar Harbour is to the southern end of the complex and is the location for the Fremantle Yacht Club.

History

Success Harbour was developed in the late 1970s. Part of the development included new mooring pens and club house for the Fremantle Sailing Club. Success Harbour was gazetted in the City of Fremantle boundary on 8 June 1979. For more information, see the entry for FISHING BOAT HARBOUR
