Statement of Significance

The building is significant on the following grounds: 1. First used from 1889 as public access to original station, area for tethering horses, etc. 2. Before World War I developed as a public park. 3. Venue for a number of significant episodes in Narrogin history, eg. Victory Celebration after World War I, Spring Festival in 1990s. 4. Chosen as location for Apex Club project to erect Ladies' Rest Centre in 1950s. 5. Named in honour of Dr DWH Mackie, prominent doctor and Mayor during World War I.
