The Church forms, together with the Rectory and Belfry, a group which has visual as well as historical and cultural significance in the town.
The church was built of corrugated iron in 1903 at a cost of $1200 and was consecrated by Archbishop Riley in June of that year. A chancel screen was added in memory of pearlers who lost their lives in the 1908 cyclone, and a cedar font with mother-of-pearl inscription was given by the children of Broome in 1912 and at about this time the ceiling was raised. The Rectory, which later became the residence of Bishop Fewer, was built in 1907.
The church is still owned by the Anglican Diocesan of the North West, and thus hold high integrity, as it still functions in a religious context.
