The old stock route has historic significance for its connection with the early exploration and settlement of the area.
An overland route used for droving stock between Perth and Champion Bay. There are many watering points along the route.
The stock route connected Champion Bay to Perth. Initially stock were moved north from the Avon Valley, the first expedition in 1849 known as the 'Settlers Expedition' was led by Augustus Gregory in 1849. The route was also used to move stock to Perth to supply the Perth meat market. (Source: 'The Old North Road' by W. J. De Burgh).
