Statement of Significance

The place represents a way of life, and the unique country co-operation.

Physical Description

Cement brick construction with a corrugated iron roof. Semi circle concrete entry porch with steps around the perimeter of the semi circle.

History

The site was originally occupied by a dwelling owned by Jim Kerr who was a railway line -runner between Yilliminning and Stretton. It was used by TOK H. The Yealering branch of the CWA was formed on 14 May 1932. The CWA provides interaction and a support network for country women. The CWA building was facilitated by fundraising in the local community. The community support and co-operation built the place in terms of finance and labour. The building also provided for Infant Health Clinic services. In 1981 the Yealering branch of the CWA disbanded, and when the rooms closed in 1984, they were vested in the Shire. The Yealering community has continued to use the place regularly for various community gatherings and meetings.
