History

Warrengabbie was selected by John Brown in 1895. Chinese workers cleared the flats along the river on 'Warrengabbie' and 'Koojan' properties and some paddocks are named afeter them. CW Ferguson purchased the property for his son Percy Douglas (PD) Ferguson, sometime prior ro 1900, after taking up other selections in the Koojan area. In 1901, PD Ferguson was elected as a member of the Victoria Plains Road Board and he also established himself on the property and built a house, before he bought the property from his father (CW) in 1905. In 1907, (PD) was a foundaton member of the Moora Progress Association and in 1908, he was instrumental in the establishment of the Moora Roads Board. PW was the honourary secretary, he later became an elected Road Board member and Chairman from 1924 to 1927 when he was elected to parliament as the Country Party candidate for the Moore District. At that time, his son Charles Arthur took over management of 'Warrengabbie'. In 1933, PD Ferguson was the minister for Agriculture in the Mitchell Latham coalition government. He was voted out of politics in 1939 and died in 1952. His son Charles Arthur had continued successfully farming 'Warrengabbie' until his retirement in 1966.
