Statement of Significance

This single storey brick and terra cotta tile residence in the InterWar Bungalow style is culturally significant because: it was constructed for the Foulds family, who were noted manufacturers in the state during the 1920s and 19308; it is representative of the style and standard of the better class of bungalows in the district; it is located within a cultural group and a townscape area. The place was designed as a Federation period bungalow, complete with detailing of that period, ego the chimneys. The roof appears to have been modified by the elimination of separate or crippled verandahs, which was a relatively common InterWar adaptation. The place complements other Federation period houses of the precinct. The adaptation of the place contributes to a wider understanding of the place's cultural history The place remained in the ownership of the Foulds family until 1955 and has some social significance. Part of a cultural group Located within a townscape area The place is typical of the style and standard of the Federation and interwar period bungalows in the district.
