Statement of Significance

This place is an example of an early building in the area and is representative of development north of the railway line within Bayswater, in particular the expanding settlement along Beechboro Road. The place has historic value for its association with Gold Estates, one of the most prominent land developers within Bayswater at the time.

Physical Description

Brick building with corrugated iron hip roof behind a rendered brick parapet. The entrance door opens onto the corner with a top light over and there is a large display window to each street frontage. A metal canopy of recent origin is supported on steel brackets over the door and windows. A lean to roof covers a rear extension, the street facing openings of which have been bricked up.

History

This small corner shop was constructed in the late 1920s and represents continuing growth in the Beechboro Road area.
