The place is of aesthetic significance as an example of architecture dating from the 1950's. The place has scientific significance as an example of modern construction technique, a glass curtain wall, in the 1950's. The place has social significance for associations with the Red Cross blood donation program.

Physical Description

Five storey aluminum glazed curtain wall building with concrete frame and floors. Single storey entrance is a recent addition.

History

Building constructed for the Red Cross blood donation program in Perth in the 1950's. The building was designed by architects Hawkins and Sands, well known in the period for their use of modern design and construction techniques including curtain wall construction.

Integrity/Authenticity

High level of integrity. Medium level of authenticity as it is largely as originally constructed with detail intact.
