The place is an example of a stone residence representing the expansion of Fremantle in the gold boom period of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. The place contributes to a substantially intact late nineteenth and early twentieth century streetscape close to the centre of Fremantle.
Single storey rendered stone house which has an aluminium tiled (not original) hipped roof. Originally built similar to no 3.
East Street was the original eastern boundary of the Fremantle townsite. In 1896 the lot was vacant and owned by Thomas Keady. In 1898 the whole lot and cottage is owned and occupied by Thomas Keady.
