Statement of Significance

This single storey weatherboard and tile cottage, in the Victorian Georgian style, has cultural significance because: it was associated with the family of Tobias Sperion for about seven decades; it is a rare type and style of worker's cottage within the suburb and the Perth region generally, and retains a moderate to high level of integrity; it represents the range of housing types available in the suburb during its first phase of development; it is part of a cultural group and within a townscape area.

Physical Description

This modest cottage is a pattern book design from an earlier era, such as would be expected in the inner suburbs of Melbourne and Sydney or the major goldfields settlements of Victoria and New South Wales.

History

This cottage was built by Tobias Speiron c.1910, one of the many working men to build in this part of Peppermint Grove in the early twentieth century. It was occupied by his family until recent times. Some historical significance.

Integrity/Authenticity

A moderate to high level of integrity. Roofs replaced
