Physical Description

The mines are reached by taking the Horrocks road west of Northampton for about 200m, then north for 400m and west up a 4wd track for about 1,2km. The remnants on site include foundations of machinery and buildings, a concrete-collared shaft and a daylighting stope (see photographs NR167-1 to 4). Though not named on the Battye photographs, the mine pictured is almost certainly the Nooka, which according to Reference 1 lay dormant until 1960 when Nooka Mining Syndicate reopened . Operated almost continuously since then.
