26090 Holland/Forrest Street Heritage Area
House 126 Holland Street is a single storey masonry and Zincalume house constructed as a simple variation of the Federation Bungalow style of Architecture. The walls are tuck pointed red face brick. The gable roof is clad with Zincalume, with exposed rafters. The gable has a timber decorative finial. The verandah is under a continuous roof and is supported by timber posts. The front façade has a timber framed door with top and side fanlights, and double hung timber windows. The place has a timber picket front boundary fence.
Lot 1462, the land on which house 126 Holland Street stands was government reserve land until the house was built in the 1915/16 rate period. The first owner/occupier was Henry H Hitchcock. By 1916/17 the owners/occupiers were Rose and Thomas Cyril Maguire, who were still there until at least 1949 (when post office directory records cease). The house was originally number 203, and became number 126 when the whole street was renumbered in 1937. The 1911 sewerage map (No. 2133; revised later) shows a brick house with verandahs on three sides. Aerial photos show the lot was subdivided and a house built at the rear in the mid-late 2000s.
Condition assessed as good (assessed from streetscape survey only).
