Statement of Significance

The site is important for its association with the development of recreational activities in the district.

Physical Description

Situated on the Recreation Ground, the two grounds are side by side running north and south.

History

Hockey has been played by both men and women at Woodanilling for many years, probably dating back to the 1920's for women at least. Woodanilling has experienced a boom in hockey in more recent years with up to five teams representing the area in men's, women's and junior competitions. The men's hockey team has won many premierships after joining the Katanning Association. Life members of the Woodanilling hockey club are Coral Arming and Graham Baxter. An indication of the local support enjoyed by hockey is that 164 people attended the annual windup dinner in 1984.
