Statement of Significance

The site represents significant associations with an important period in the development of the state, and made a substantial contribution to the water availability and settlement potential of the region. The associations with depression workers and local pioneers is significant.

Physical Description

Natural rock catchment and dam wall.

History

In 1935 a wall was constructed across a natural rock valley. It created a 1 million gallon reservoir. It was the first major building project in the region, undertaken by sustenance workers during the Depression. Jack Lambie, a local farmer, carted the concrete from Newdegate.
