Physical Description

Road extending from the Waterville Road to Cowalla Road. Road currently unused and partially fenced off but in intact condition.

History

The Public Works Department Road was constructed from Monument Hill to Greenwood and was the forerunner of the Cowalla Road. It was constructed by Government unemployment relief as a result of action by the Moore River & Gingin Brook Progress Association (formed on the 9/9/1922) to obtain a motor road to the Cowalla Bridge for the river residents. Progress was halted as a result of a change of State Government and the project was abandoned.
