Statement of Significance

The site is important for its association with the development of recreational activities in the district.

Physical Description

Located on the east side of the Recreation Reserve, these courts were used until 19... The site has now regrown with natural vegetation. It is about 100 metres from Yairabin Road and about 20 metres east of the Recreation Reserve firebreak.

History

Netball (referred to as basketball until more recent times) was one of two outdoor winter sports (with hockey) played by young women in the district. The first courts were evidently unsuitable and netball was next played at a more central town location off Robinson Road.
