Statement of Significance

This single storey, brick and iron bungalow, with its extensive verandahs, in the Victorian Italianate bungalow style, has cultural significance because: it is an elegant bungalow designed to sit centrally in an ornamental garden setting; the place is an exemplar of its form and style, with one of the finest extant verandahs in the suburb, and it retains a high level of integrity; it possibly demonstrates eastern states influence; it is a rare example of its type and style, as well as being an exemplar; it is part of a cultural group and a townscape area.

Physical Description

This elegant bungalow is designed to sit within a garden setting and to relate to the garden on three facades. The fourth facade would have been to the kitchen garden and work areas. The verandah is one of the finest extant verandahs in the suburb.

Integrity/Authenticity

The place is an exemplar of its style and form. Its form is particularly suited to a house sited in a large ornamental garden. Its style indicates a possible eastern states influence from the building booms there which followed the gold rush of the 1850s and 1860s. The place has a high level of integrity. Extensive additions to rear and renovations
