The State Housing Commission (SHC) in Western Australia constructed homes for purchase and rental to accommodate the settlement requirements after World War Two. Australia had fought for peace and security, and the Australian Dream was home ownership. The SHC set out to make that a reality for many working families who could otherwise not afford it. In late 1949, the SHC asked the Wickepin Roads Board for permission to construct 2 houses in Wickepin. This was followed by a similar request less than a year later for two more houses. These were constructed in Wogolin Road. In 1958, 2 more houses, and the same in 1959. In 1960, Lot 101 was subdivided for the State Housing Commission.
