History

The other major event of 1934 was the laying out of the Woodanilling Golf course. The National Bank Manager from Katanning, Nicholas supervised the building and laying out of the course on part of Jack Fidock's property. The Woodanilling Golf Club had a membership of 40 when Mrs Compton drove off the first bass on the opening day on May 5, 1934. Her husband, Bill Compton, was the secretary and John Fidock the foundation president. The Legislative Council member Hon. Alex Thompson officially opened the new course. The club went into recess during the war years and resumed in 1946. To date there have been six life members elected - Jim Dinwoodie, Ivan Wilhelm, Lloyd Treloar, Gordon Terlich, Mrs Anne Wilhelm and Mrs Edith Braund. In January 1958 tenders were called for the construction of a clubhouse at the golf course. This was opened in early May of that year. In later years, prominent golfers / administrators have been
