26090 Holland/Forrest Street Heritage Area
House, 30 Forrest Street is a single storey masonry and tiled house constructed in the Federation Bungalow style of Architecture. The asymmetrical façade has walls that are rendered stucco brick. The tiled roof is gabled and hipped and has two corbelled chimneys. There is a projecting front room to the facade and infill to the verandah on the eastern side. The front verandah is under an extension of the main roof. The verandah is supported by decorative chamfered timber posts with decorative timber brackets. There are double hung timber framed windows to the front façade. The place has a timber picket front boundary fence and timber gate.
The house was first listed in Post Office Directories in 1915, with James Copley as resident. The 1915 sewerage map (No. 2068) shows a brick house on the corner, facing Forrest Street, with a half-length front verandah that wraps around the house on the east side. There is a small weatherboard outbuilding to the rear on the west side, near the Amherst Street boundary. The house was originally number 109, and became number 30 when the whole street was renumbered in 1939. Mrs Mary Copley is still residing in the house at this time. Aerial photos (Landgate) show that between 1985 and 1995 the rear of the lot was subdivided and a house built at 4 Amherst Street.
