Statement of Significance

The building is significant on the following grounds: 1. Erected early 1900s by Nicholas Bushalla, a prominent entrepeneur. 2. Erected as skating rink, then had long history as picture theatre (silent films, early Talkies, major feature films, etc.) 3. Live entertainment at times (hypnotist, etc). 4. During World War I was venue for patriotic rallies etc. 5. Later served as fruit & veg mart, second-hand mart.
