These dwellings are representative of the development of early Bedford Park and have historic value for their association with Cyril Smart, a speculative home builder in the area.
Part of a group of Californian bungalows with Art Deco features typifying the style of housing found in Bedford and reminiscent of many built in the inner suburbs of Perth during the Inter War years from the late 1920s (until the Great Depression) and again from 1934 until the onset of the Second World War. This particular group and many others in the vicinity were constructed in the mid 1930s of rendered brick with terra cotta tile roofs and a limestone base. The houses feature gables or half gables with half timbering, or hipped roofs. Entrance by a front porch with solid brick pylon supports and with wooden casement windows and leaded glass.
This house appears clearly to be the work of "spec home" builder, possibly Cyril Smart, who was one of several who were operating in Bedford Park at the time.
