Statement of Significance

The place demonstrates associations with the development of secondary education facilities in Moora.

History

In 1949, the Moora school was relocated from the original site in Dandaragan Street to Roberts Street. By 1958, the school was upgraded to a Junior High School. The school expanded in numbers of students and building spaces. In 1968, 488 students attended the school and it was proposed to split the secondary and primary sections of the school. This took place in 1971, at which time the secondary section became known a Moora High School. In 1974 the Central Midalnds High School relocated to this Ranfurly Street site with newly constructed buildings. 1975 was the first year of Year 12 students.
