South Dale Hall is of significance for the community co-operation that provided a Hall in 1908 with the School operating from that community built facility until 1914, representing a part of the early development of the Shire of Brookton, and demonstrating a way of life no longer practiced.
The single storey timber framed hall building is rectangular in form with a gable roof. The walls are clad with horizontal sheets of corrugated iron and the front is symmetrical with a central double door entry. Documentary evidence refers to mud brick hall building.
The South Dale School was established in 1909, in the community built mud brick hall that opened in 1908. A sports ground was developed next to the Hall and was the venue for many events including sports days, foot races, bowling, football, wood chops etc. In 1914, the Education Dept deemed the Hall building unacceptable and transported a building from Pingelly to continue the schooling in West Dale. The School closed in 1930. In the 1930s, the Church of Chris’s Brother Ewer included West Brookton in his monthly circuit.
