Cash Drapery and Boot Store (fmr) is dominant in the streetscape and make a significant contribution to the historical commercial centre of Brookton.
The single storey brick building has an expansive three shop frontage detailed in timber framing with cladding above and below the shopfront windows. There are mirror plan shopfronts that flank the central symmetrical shopfront with truncated recessed central double entry. The smaller shopfronts also have recessed truncated entries, single, that adjoin the central shop. The parapet fascia is simple in form with a single stepped centre. It is clad with vertical format sheet steel cladding. A suspended boxed awning extends the full front width of the three shops, over the footpath.
In c.1913 John Montgomery built three shops in Robinson Road that he sold to Frank Ward who opened Cash Drapery st and Boot Stores. Ward was ahead of his time, employing a 1 class dressmaker and offering free gifts for purchases above a certain amount.
