Statement of Significance

The place demonstrates a way of life and significant associations with the Keamy Family. The place has streetscape value and contributes to the townscape and character of Moora.

Physical Description

Double shop front with rendered parapets. Each of the two identical parapets have a central recessed arched section witht he words "Keamy" and "Building". Horizontal recessed bands flank each side of tw panels. A suspended canopy extends over the footpath. Each shop front has a cnetral recessed and truncated double timber framed glass doors.

History

Thomas and leslie Keamy were employed as managers for their brother-in-law Saleeba, when he bought Prior's Store in 1898. In 1911, the keamy brothers established thier own General Store. In 1917, Les Keamy, one of these brothers took up land at 'Cardo". Thomas Keamy, the other brother continued to operate the store. He was involved in many community organisations and the family continue the commerce tradition in Moora.
