Statement of Significance

The dam represents the value of a water supply in sustaining the settlement in the region. It has associations with the early development of Ballidu.

Physical Description

Balli Balli Rocks are at the rear of the dam.

History

Adequate supplies of water is critical to the settlement of any region. Ballidu town was established in the 1920s. With the Great Depression during the early 1930s, the Government employed men on public works projects to provide a sustenance income. Workers were employed to construct the Ballidu Town Dam, working on a roster of three days on and three days off.
