Statement of Significance

Reflects the importance and influence of the railways in providing transport links early in the 20th century and the role it playing in the development of the district.

Physical Description

Located on the Williams to Darkan section of the railway and is the first siding SW of Williams - a distance by road of 8kms, but further by rail to the Williams Station. A mound indicating the presence of a loading ramp is one of the few visible remnants of the siding's infrastructure which was removed following the closure of the line.

History

The siding was originally named "Boraning" (also Baranning/Boraning) but was changed because of the siding's distance from that centre. GS Cowcher proposed "Joesbury" in his letter to the Minister for Lands (on 13 March 1908) believing that to be the native name for the area. The name Josbury approved on 25 April 1908. (1)
