Physical Description

Single storey timber framed walls clad with indented profile weatherboard on the façade and a Zincalume hipped and half gabled roof house. There is a brick chimney with corbelling and a dropped verandah. The front entrance has side panels and the timber double hung sash windows are extant.

History

Twelve houses Holland Street (Nos. 90-112) were all built by 1902. In 1901/2 lot 1396 was owned by the Government and the cottage was occupied by William Howard, a Wood carter. He was there until 1915. Various residents followed until William Joseph Jones became a long-term resident from c1925 until at least 1949 (when post office directory records cease). Numbers were allocated in 1905. The house was originally number 173, and became number 100 when the whole street was renumbered in 1937. The 1914 Sewerage Plan (No 2118) shows a weatherboard house with a full-length front verandah and projecting rooms at the rear either side of a central verandah. Aerial photos show that in c2010 the house was extended at the rear.
