The site of the first school in Carnamah has some local historic significance for its role in the early education of the local community.
The site of the first school in Carnamah is marked by a Historical Society sign on the opposite roadside.
This was the site of the first school in Carnamah. (Local Knowledge) Five acres of land on the west side of the railway was vested as Reserve 13591, following which a standard portable weatherboard and iron school, consisting of 1 room 18ft x 18ft, was built. Costing 180 pounds, the school was opened on 15 July, 1912. By 1916 the old school had been converted into quarters and a new school built. (Heydon, p86-88)
