This bank has historic, aesthetic and social heritage significance. It represents an important service to rural Western Australia. Its name has evolved since its inception as the Agricultural Bank of Western Australia, then the Rural and Industries Bank and now Bankwest.
Located in the main shopping street of Denmark, the bank, which is a single storey timber and tile building of approximately 210 square metres, is presently used as Bankwest premises. Its distinctive architectural style provides an attractive streetscape element of traditional style and construction. Symmetrical in design, it has tall timber framed sash windows on either side of the foyer entrance.
