Historically, since c.1920, an important link between timber mills and forestry department, as well as servicing the isolated forestry workers' families with household supplies, post WW1.
Constructed by timber companies for access between mills in Pickering Brook, Carinyah, Bartons and Lesley mills. Later used extensively by Forests Dept. to service Carinyah Forestry Station which had 3 - 5 families during the Depression.
