Large stables were also located on the south-east corner of Hulbert and Douro Road. By 1895, a cottage owned by customs officer John Davies was listed as being on Town Lot 70 of Subdivision 28 (later 33 Douro Road). The cottage was listed as number 73 Douro Road in 1910/11, at which time it was owned and occupied by Frederick and Angelina Davies. Gardens were also noted in the rate book in this year, indicating that extensive gardens had been developed around the house. A diagram dated c. 1905 shows a large stone house with a full length front verandah and three stone buildings or rooms to the rear, two of which were attached to the main house. The third had a verandah fac
