26090 Holland/Forrest Street Heritage Area
Single storey roughcast rendered above sill height and terracotta tile hipped and half gable roofed house which with limestone foundations. The projecting front and gabled roofed room features painted decorative brickwork. The roof extends over the verandah and is supported by turned timber posts and timber frieze and balustrades. There are timber casement windows extant. Nos 2 & 4 are similar in design and materials.
Lot pt 997 was owned by James Simpson and Dora Lewis in 1900. They also owned lot 995 (now 8 Holland Street). In 1922 Post office directories note the construction of a new house. The house was originally number 15, and became number 4 when the whole street was renumbered in 1937. The first owner and occupier was George Hodges, who lived there until the early 1940s.
