The hall is historically significant and is of a peculiar architectural composition - a curio in Merredin. It incorporates the floor of the first hall erected in 1913 and when completed in 1925 with its clock tower and clock from the makers of Big Ben it was a source of pride in the district. The clock tower was dedicated with further celebrations in 1928 as a war memorial and the hall, in addition to serving as a social centre for the district for many years also incorporate the Road Board Office.
The building has a tiled roof, the internal walls are lined with plastered cement and there are pressed tin ceilings. The tower has an internal jarrah staircase. Offices were added along the east wall in 1944 and in 1958 the west was remodeled. At present the brickwork, though sound in the tower, is cracked and considered dangerous in the front section of the building on the left of the tower and similar deterioration could occur on the right.
Assessment 1983 Construction 1925 Builder: James R. Parker The first hall and Road Board Office, a wooden building, was opened in 1913. The new brick section at the front, with its central clock tower was erected in 1924 - 1925, being opened on 20 May 1925.
