Condition

On the morning of 20 April 2010, the City of Kalgoorlie – Boulder was struck by an earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale, the hardest hit area being the Burt Street Precinct. An initial inspection found damage to the buildings to be extensive but non-critical, A number of places will need some dismantling and rebuilding of key sections, especially parapets and chimneys, and extensive work will be required to repair damaged plasterwork. Early assessments have not identified any heritage buildings that would require demolition.
