Statement of Significance

The building is significant on the following grounds: 1. Erected 1894 as first Government school - oldest public building still extant. 2. Converted to Court House 3. Used as offices of Agricultural Bank/R & I - Charles Mitchell as officer. 4. Base for Historical Society who created the town museum.

Noted by National Trust as an attractive stone building with brick quoins and corrugated galvanised iron roof
