This two storey limestone and terra cotta tile residence in the Federation Queen Anne style, has cultural significance because: it has historical significance because of its association with the Greenway, Allnutt and Forbes families; it is a fine and relatively rare example of a fine two storey Federation Queen Anne style with a vely high level of integrity; it is part of a cultural group and a townscape area; it is highly valued as it strongly contributes to the community's sense of place.
The place is a handsome, well proportioned, two storey residence of the Federation Queen Anne style, which is an important cultural and townscape element
The property was another owned originally by A G Harvey, civil servant. The residence was built and owned by local builder George Greenway. The residencewas then purchased by Lea Allnut, a wealthy rural industrialist, c.1920. He and his family continued to be part of the Peppermint Grove community for the next half a century. The place is an accomplished example of subdued Queen Anne design, with good proportions, thoughtful construction details and high construction standards. These qualitieswere respected in the restoration. The place retains a high level of integrity. Thoughtful conservation/refurbishment by the R & E Forbes. Restorations from earlier conversion to flats.
